Every day I see people recommending free a/v and anti-spyware and everyday I see people crying because they use it and are infected. You really do get what you pay for.

I use McAfee and I never have a problem. McAfee comes complete with anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall.

Not that I am any great supporter of conglomerates… they usually take good stuff and ruin it (but at least they are reliable). You can go to their websites and they will usually have a web based anti-virus scanner you can run on your system if you suspect yours has been compromised.

Check your startup for programs running that shouldn’t be there. To do this click Start > Run > type msconfig > hit enter > go into the Startup Tab > look for strange executables …
If you do not know what these are it is best to ask a professional to clean your system or you can google them if you’re a bit savvy. If you are fairly certain something is safe to uncheck.. uncheck it (just dont uncheck your a/v!!) > hit apply > and restart to reboot or exit without restart

Also, go into your we browser preferences and try clearing your cache. It could be you still have a bad temporary file sitting in there that is kicking off over and over. To do this right-click on the internet exporer icon (if you use IE) or go into the preferences of your browser off the toolbar and clear the cache (clear temporary files). You can also manually do this (again, only do this if you’re savvy and know what you’re doing).

While you are in browser preferences make sure that your home page hasn’t been redirected to a bad site… change it to something safe like google.com

    Good luck.
