    I’d strongly recommend AVG or Avast! Both are completely free and work well. However if you’re sure your computer is infected with a whole lot of stuff, you may be better off doing a complete reformat / reinstall of Windows.

    There isn’t a best AV that everyone agrees on, its all subjective. But Nod32 gets a lot of good talk, but it isnt free, though they do have a 30 day trial you can find here

    A few free antivirus programs are, – AVG – Anti Vir – Avast

    I have used both AVG and Avast, and I like them both.

    The windows defender from the microsoft site it can all seems good so far zone alarm allows lot of personal use more than one av and destroy and anti spy.
